ขณะเดียวกัน ผลสำรวจของรอยเตอร์/มหาวิทยาลัยมิชิแกนระบุว่า ดัชนีความเชื่อมั่นผู้บริโภคสหรัฐเบื้องต้นของเดือนพ.ค.ลดลงมากกว่าคาด สู่ระดับ 88.6 จากตัวเลขขั้นสุดท้ายที่ 95.9 ในเดือนเม.ย. โดยก่อนหน้านี้ นักวิเคราะห์คาดว่าดัชนีอยู่ที่ระดับ 96.0 ในเดือนพ.ค.ทั้งนี้ ข้อมูลเศรษฐกิจที่อ่อนแอได้หนุนความน่าดึงดูดใจของทอง และทำให้นักลงทุนเข้าซื้อทองในฐานะสินทรัพย์ที่มีความปลอดภัย

หลังจากที่ ตลท.เห็นว่าการดำเนินการของบริษัทในเรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลงพาร์ไม่สอดคล้องกับแนวทางของตลาดหลักทรัพย์ฯทั้งเรื่องสภาพคล่อง จำนวนหุ้น และราคาต่อหุ้น โดยได้สรุปการเปลี่ยนแปลงทุนและการเปลี่ยนแปลงพาร์ ของ NEWS ในช่วงเวลา 2 ปี ภายใต้การบริหารจัดการของคณะกรรมการซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เป็นชุดเดียวกัน โดยปี 2558 เป็นการรวมพาร์ แต่ปี 2560 เป็นการ Split Par สรุปรายละเอียดได้ดังนี้
